Homemade treats are a great way to give your dane extra nutrition as well as helping to make training easier. Here are a few tried and true recipes that our Danes absolutly drool over.

  • 10 pounds of ground beef

  • 1 large tub 4% fat cottage cheese

  • 1 1/4 cup flax oil

  • 1 1/2 cup unsulphered blackstrap molasses

  • 10 raw organic eggs including shells

  • 10 envelopes unflavored vegan gelatin

  • 2 tablespoons of chia seed

  • 2 tablespoons of flax seed

  • 1/2 cup nutritional yeast flakes

  • 5 opened capsules of probiotic

Mix all ingrediants together very well as if making meat loaf and roll into treat size balls. Freeze in layers on parchment paper or wax paper. Its best to let them freeze for fifteen days to insure any bacteria or germs are dead.

  • 20 ounces of chicken liver or beef liver

  • 2 large organic eggs

  • 4 tbls chia seed

  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups of unbleached unbromated flour

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Put liver and eggs in food processor and pulse until smooth. Add flour and blend some more (needs to be a bit thicker than cake batter). Pour into large mixing bowl and mix in chia seeds. Now prepare a cookie sheet with raised edges. Line with aluminum foil and coat the foil with oil. Spread batter evenly and bake at 300 for 20 to 30 minutes until center is firm. Turn of oven and let them sit for 10 to 15 minutes in the oven. Let cool completely before cutting. Flip them out of the pan and remove the foil and cut into quarters. Then cut each quarter into strips. Cut accross the strips into small treat size pieces. Bag into snack container and keep refrigerated. I store some in the fridge and keep extras in the freezer until i need them.

  • 2 to 3 organic sweet potatoes

Slice into disc shapes 1/4 thick. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Bake on a cookie sheet for 30 minutes. Then flip then over and bake for another 30 minutes. Keep refrigerated. I believe dehydrating instead of cooking in the oven would make them crispier. I am testing that theory. Will update with results.

  • 3 cups of cooked organic pumkin

  • 1 cup shredded carot

  • 2 tbls raw unsalted pumpkin seeds

  • 1 tbls flax seed

  • 1 tbls chia seed

  • 2 tbls black strap molases (unsulphered)

Mix all together in bowl. Pour into ice trays and freeze. After freezing empty into a storage container to keep in freezer. Great treat for a hot day.

  • 2 tbls chia seed

  • 1/2 cup coconut flour

  • 3 cups antibiotic and hormone free goat milk

  • 4 opened capsules of probiotic

Mix all together and store in the refrigerator. Can top food with this or as a nice chilled treat.
